Are You a Full Time Investor Now?

Got asked this a few days ago.

I said yes.

"So you just do shares and make money that way?"

I said yes.

It's because I wasn't super into that person that I didn't go into too much detail. But you could kinda say it's true. I mean most people would consider something they'd made thousands of pounds from in a few days being 'full time' or 'pro' right?

Truth is... I kinda am but with the strategy I use now... I could potentially make more than the average person in the UK does SPENDING NO TIME AT ALL on shares. So you couldn't call THAT full time.

I've been thinking lately. Spoke about this a bit... the way I finally said it was "If I bought something and HAD to sell it in a year that would be better than NOT buying something... if it made me less money than interest."

Because thinking about that more you can never know when or if you'll HAVE to sell shares. I don't spend much money and have a decent amount in cash but my percentage of money in cash is lower than it has been for while. With the amount of money I spend now my cash would keep me going for years EVEN IF I DIDN'T EARN ANY MORE.

And I will earn more.

So yeah... you've got to do what you want as much as possible in life. I am actually looking for a 'full time job' atm... but I'd still be an investor even then, just spending much less time looking at shares. But I'd have more money to invest. Having more money to invest makes you a better share investor... because you can spend just as much time researching but just make bigger purchases which leads to bigger profit... (or loss!)

The past 10 shares I've bought are all in profit though. The Lloyds shares I bought 21 days ago are up over 14% on the purchase price... quite surreal. I think I'm at the point now with all of the shares I own I KNOW when the right time is to buy more. Again I should have bought more Shell a few days ago... distracted by noise partly but I didn't fully have the "If I bought something and HAD to sell it in a year that would be better than NOT buying something... if it made me less money than interest" mindset too. I do now.

So WORD UP. Quite a 'philosophical' share investing post here... I just wrote whatever was on my mind. Hit me up if you want me to write about shares... still surreal over 100,000 people have read my share writing.

GOAL DAY :) Going to do my goals whatever happens!

I honestly feel I have got a STRONG portfolio of shares which will RISE OVER TIME. That doesn't mean I have to check them lots per day. Lots to do!

You Have to Know When To Be Ruthless

5:36 and the start of another goal day. There's a lot to get done today and I'm starting it off with this article.

You have to know when to be ruthless. You will have times in your life where people will be ruthless to you. I've used the world people in that sentence because whether it's 'the government' or 'companies'... they're just comprised of people anyway.

It's happened to me quite a lot in life- maybe it will happen less to you. Or you could be in a situation where things are more ruthless than they are for me. Sure some people in Britain might complain they have it tough but it's not exactly 'tough' compared to being in Afghanistan. Be thankful for what you have but aim to reach your goals and make it better.

So you have to be ruthless in pursuit of your goals. You can't have 'wishful thinking'- just a naive hope that things will be good. Look for concrete evidence. Try and know as much about a situation or person as you can if you need to make an important decision. Trust your instincts- if you have developed them in the right way they will be right the vast majority of the time.

At the same time, you have to know when not to be ruthless. If I consider someone a friend, or someone who can help me reach my goals and probably me help them rich theirs I will not be ruthless with them. Or it would take me a LOT for me to be ruthless- they would have to change from someone who's helped me with my goals to an extent to someone who's totally stopping me reaching my goals. Those kind of people are rare but they are out there.

I keep an open mind on people who haven't been in contact with me for while but who come back into contact with me. Again you have to set boundaries but there's been one guy recently who hadn't talked to me for a while but now he is and it's fine.

Anyway... lots to get done. Hopefully you got something out of this article.

I didn't look at how much my shares went down yesterday... but they're UP a lot today... biggest share portfolio ever... they've probably gone up about £1800 today.

I didn't look at how much my shares went down yesterday... but they're UP a lot today... biggest share portfolio ever... they've probably gone up about £1800 today.

I think after over 11 years properly doing it (17 if you count my first ever share purchase which went up over 200%) I instinctively know which high yield shares to buy now...

So that's quite a useful ability. Hit me up if you want to HIRE MY TIME!

Shares

Off to supermarket in few minutes... current thoughts on shares. I'm currently in the mood that potentially I would be OK with buying a share holding it for a year then selling if I 'had to'. I'm not really at the stage where this would have to be the case as I have plenty of money but I feel confident enough in my own ability to do that. I may learn about 'shorting shares' too. Basically if I see a situation where I believe I KNOW I will make much more than the interest rate over a year I would do it.

I was very tempted to buy Shell yesterday making it two shares bought in a day... if I could have got it for 1660 I would have. If I'd have just bought for 1665 it'd have been but about 2% ALREADY... oh well plenty of opportunities out there. If I need the cash I can just sell the shares, no problem.

I'm Single

I'm single.

Going a bit more direct on this subject than before....

I'm single and this 'area of my life' is something I'm going to work on more. Too much of this year has been spent acting like a bitch thinking about ONE girl... she's not thinking of me. But then again she's being kept up by a cough in rented digs with thin walls so it's not like she's got a PERFECT LIFESTYLE...

I would say overall I'm doing OK in this area but there is ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT. The weather is getting better now etc etc. I'll be using 'poker time' to put more time into this area. I've actually thought and STUDIED a lot about it but the real deal is... you just have to GO OUT TO INTERESTING PLACES AND CHAT TO INTERESTING PEOPLE. I need to do this ONCE A WEEK OR MORE. Twice a week or more ideally. Going out on Sat...

I'm 32. I have less energy than I did when I was 21. But there are still people OLDER than me who have this area of their life better dealt with than me and are still 'pushing it'. There's no excuse. Fitness plays a role and I'm going to make myself do some kind of exercise every day. I know plenty of theory and know people who are much better than me in this who'll help me. But at the end of the day I've got to get my results.

Just to put another direct thing on it. 32. I will DIE EVENTUALLY ;) I will have less energy eventually. Got to make the most of the time.

Having said that though I do have decent experience and knowledge- quite a lot more than at 21. So that helps. There's plenty of opportunities out there. I may even travel more this year to put myself in different situations.

So word up...

Maybe you're a girl reading this. Well I do like girls who are into reading and writing. You don't have to be but quite a few girls who like me are. Some actually have read ALL OF THIS SITE. So yeah I'm into writing if you are you can read as much or as little as you want for free. Putting my pic at the bottom.

Quick goal review of yesterday. Bought some more British American Tobacco- got it at 4091. The PE was higher than shares I normally buy but I still think I got a decent price and it will do fine in the long term. I mean, it's a shame that the NHS will have a bit more work to do potentially but hey... that's CAPITALISM.

Played 2 poker tourns perfectly but bubbled one and nearly bubbled the other. So I have two more sit and gos to play at some point over the next 2 weeks but apart from that... might not even play at all or little.

Went for decent walk and did some other exercise- walk EVERY DAY if weather is OK. Played some chess... did quite well. Not spending TOO LONG on it but keeps your mind sharp. With chess it's nice to not be effected by some random luck. Did plenty of comps and a few surveys won prize in comp. Applied for a few jobs online and rang one up.

Lot to do today including supermarkets in few hours. Will do daily mini goal reviews in near future.

Since last post got hits quick here's another one...

Current mood is feeling like buying shares... to force myself to get more money... so I can buy more shares. Right idea but need to get the timing right!

Goal update... had walk and had bath! Word up... now looking at shares and applying for jobs online. Keeping phones nearby and on if employers want to ring me and may ring them.

Share People

I see some share people/companies have followed or connected with me recently. If you want someone who's had OVER 100,000 VIEWS on share articles and will write CHEAPLY feel free to get in touch. Or if you're interesting you can just get in touch to chat sometimes.

Money Will Be Worthless When I'm Dead

Ha... OK then time for a real bit of off the cuff bit of writing.

Money Will Be Worthless When I'm Dead.

Quite morbid. 32 years alive... alive... pretty much all of that I have been CAREFUL WITH MONEY. Ironically I would say in 2016 there are certain things I could have done to hustle for it more- and I will be doing. But even when I'm worth more money and get more money... I RARELY SPEND IT. For most people in the UK around my 'age range' it's the other way round. It's get drunk, kill some brain cells have no money. It's go to uni (I was conditioned into that too... see my 'Should You Go to University' post... one of my best on this site)... then just have DEBT (that's right... DEBT... loans are not FREE money... although in the UK if you don't earn enough... eventually it's free!)

The whole thing is, you are conditioned by your parents and upbringing. Sure I might have locked myself in the bathroom at the age of 13 to NOT GO TO CHURCH EVER AGAIN but I think I inherited the not piss away money gene even more than my Chartered Accountant father as I DO NOT GIVE ANY MONEY TO CHARITY (unlike him who over his lifetime has probably given more than £100,000). The amount of surreal shit already in this article OBVS DESERVES A LOL.

I am my favourite charity.

So yeah... I do like hustling money just for something to do really, not because I am a consumerist sheep. Most of the things I do buy are good value. Like so far I have a car this year that so far I have paid £500 for which is probably worth at least £1500. I'm good at buying things- I'm actually GOOD at quite a lot of things, but bad at others. But that's fine... I mean like it's good to be REALISTIC that you are not THE BEST IN THE WORLD... just fine to set alright goals for yourself and do those.

I may AIM TO CONDITION MYSELF just to spend more money... because I can if I want to.

I cashed out of poker because being frank with you over the past week or so I have been playing WELL with just two quite big mistakes one noise related and the other set over set related (bit tilt maybe) because I had just lost KK va A2... PUSHED ALL IN PREFLOP. In fact if I listed all the bad beats in poker over the past 2 weeks the chances of them all happening... would like 1 in a thousand or something. Had a fair few yesterday but actually being FAIR I did get lucky twice because I just wanted to go all in. That is actually a slight weakness of mine... I'm playing REALLY BAD PLAYERS who will go all in with anything so sometimes I call and bet too much.

So yeah just cashed out. I may come back when/if I've got a full time job as my actual poker ability is still GOOD at least... I mean I was pissed off with myself yesterday and had 4 or 5 'bad beats'... but the reality is my losses overall over that day amounted to like... 40p. Word. Up. So yeah I actually did play some good hands... but I've looked at the situation atm and am not going to be playing cash games for a while. I have 2 tickets I won for free still to play and may play a bit today but by TAKING ALL MY MONEY OUT means I CAN'T play cash games even if I wanted to :).

Longest post in a while. That's the thing about writing... if you just do it a lot some bits will be good. I'd say this a pretty readable post for you and it'll have only taken me like 20 min max. OK... much more goal focused now as poker has been taking up TOO MUCH TIME... may do daily goal posts for a bit to keep myself accountable.

Shares

I'm going to spend a bit more time reading and I want to write some original stuff. I can write pretty quickly really... bit of practice and I think I could do 1,000 words a day like when I was writing at ShareProphets if I wanted to. If I'm going to write share articles for money that might take a bit more 'discipline' but if they're not going to be for money... I can view it just as my own education really :).

Poker

Cashed out of poker to spend more time doing other things... I have a smaller schedule today followed by quite a bit less from tomorrow. Two tickets and action points to use up but I'll be playing less cash games in the near future.

Quick Poker

Poker really can be just taking money off really bad players quickly- some people will just do really stupid things and lose all their money in a few seconds. I can take that in a few minutes and do other things if I want to :) £££ Have been today.

In fact in poker I could just take the approach that I may ONLY to select to play in clearly easy situations. It would mean me playing less but in terms of 'hourly rate' would be better probably.

Good start to day- up in poker big, shares up about £900 and doing other stuff :) £££

Poker

Big poker day yesterday... cashed for biggest amount in while. Makes me realize that I do have the ability to cash and even final table tournaments with other pros. A bit of luck in a few situations is all that's needed- playing my best ever! More poker today.

On a more mundane note... registered at job agency yesterday and may well be ringing jobs today- or letting them ring me as has been happening quite often recently.

Here's my current mood on shares... LOTS OF THINGS ARE CHEAP... chatting to the world famous share investors/writers I know about when they'll go up. If you have cash there are plenty of shares to buy- rise in oil price not fully reflected in BP and Shell price yet.

Lloyds and Shell

Bought more @royaldutchshell very nice yield at these prices! Bought LLoyds yesterday. That's the job of being a 'pro share investor' really... not much you have to do to get good deals. Would advise you buy at around these levels if you can afford to. Had one job interview offer yesterday which I'm thinking about and on the hustle for cash in many ways!

Getting Perspective...

Going to blast out something bit longer here...

Important to have perspective on things... just because something goes badly in the short term does NOT mean that will happen in the long term. It can be just a short term 'blip'. Lost some poker pots by being unlucky a few days ago... that didn't mean that I couldn't win big yesterday, despite spending much less time on it, and I did. Just because ONE (literally one) interesting person isn't REPLYING TO MY INTERNET CHAT atm (lols) doesn't mean that I haven't got MANY other high value people that I can chat to every day. I'm not afraid to go 'direct' if I have to though (plenty of material...)

Yeah and shares up today from bad yesterday. Actually was a buying opportunity yesterday... still could be today. They've got up about £1000 today. £1000... plenty of people in the UK work hard for a month for that. Around the world people are working longer... it's just one tab to me.

Goal day :).
